Medical School Hannover, ALS Centre

    DirectorProf. dr. Martin Stangel, MD
Principal investigatorProf. dr. Susanne Petri, MD

The ALS outpatient clinic at Hannover Medical School is the largest ALS centre in Northern Germany. Certified by the German muscular disease society (DGM), we offer multidisciplinary care for ALS patients and patients suffering from other neuromuscular disorders. Close clinical collaborations exist with the departments of pulmonology, gastroenterology, human genetics and palliative care. We have long term experience in national and international multicenter clinical ALS trials. Our clinical research currently focuses on the analysis of co-morbidities, spreading patterns, disease-modifying factors, clinical neurophysiology and imaging. We further pursue research on ALS pathomechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches in human ALS tissue and in cellular and animal models.
